ISC BIND Version 4.x - Step by Step

1. Download the ORSN initialize file for nameservers (FTP OR HTTP)
   
   
2. Go to the base directory of your BIND4 installation.
   
   
3. Move (rename) the existing file "root.cache" to "root.cache.old"
   
   
4. Copy now the file "orsn.hint" to your BIND4 base directory.
   
   
5. Verify/Adjust the permissions of this file so that BIND can read this file.
   
   
6. Edit the configuration file (e.g. named.conf) and change the following option
   from cache . root.cache to cache . orsn.hint
   
   
7. Save your changes to this file and ...
   
   
8. ... then restart your named process (e.g. killall -1 named [...]).
